We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join us on this journey, who can support and grow our fully remote professional services engineering team, steer technical decisions and lead communications outwardly with clients and internally within the larger engineering org and the rest of the business. This is a unique opportunity to join a company that, while still small, has great ambitions.
Key Responsibilities
Working closely with our Director of Engineering and CTO on implementing the Axonista vision and long-term technical strategy.
Establishing a high performance culture along with effective and consistent practices and processes across all customer teams.
Teaching, mentoring, coaching and being a role model for team members, growing them in their professional careers through career development plans and conversations.
Identifying skills gaps and filling them through talent acquisition or training initiatives
Being comfortable in a role where you transition seamlessly between managerial activities and technical conversations
Supporting a range of global customers with diverse projects of varying complexity and length
Collaborating with the platform team on driving the platform forward to benefit our customers
Line managing dynamic teams to deliver high performance interactive video solutions on web, iOS, Android and television/OTT platforms
Attracting, recruiting and on-boarding great engineers to our team
Fostering a culture of inclusion, ambition, and collaboration
Working closely with Product Managers, Designers, DevOps and QA engineers to deliver scalable, supportable and maintainable customer products
Supporting Sales Engineering during the discovery phases of engagements
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in engineering
A proven track record as a software engineer in addition to recent experience in an engineering manager or team lead role
Excellent team building, communication, and people management skills.
Experience creating web and native mobile applications with significant experience in scalability, high availability, latency and throughput
Broad fullstack knowledge with a preference for JavaScript and TypeScript
Exposure to working with heterogeneous tech stacks including Python and Go
Demonstrable experience of deploying applications on AWS with a focus on CI/CD and Kubernetes
Deep understanding of modern agile software development best practices
Strong insights into operational concerns like monitoring, performance testing, security, accessibility and GDPR
Experience of working remotely and understanding of remote team dynamics
Bonus Points:
Background in video technologies, low latency live-streaming, and players
Experience with OTT applications and platforms like AppleTV
Hands-on knowledge of integrating with diverse or legacy technology stacks
Avid consumer of video streaming services, fan of stories and storytellers

Axonista is operating a fully remote team. We are Headquartered in Ireland with our teams dotted throughout Europe. This is a fully remote position (working from home) with the opportunity for in-person collaboration at times throughout the year.
What is the Hiring Process?
Applicants for the position can expect the following hiring process:
Qualified applicants will be invited to a 30-minute conversation with a member of the People Ops team.
If successful at the initial round, candidates will then be invited to a series of interviews with the Hiring Manager and other members of the Axonista team as required.
